Advance Notification : Closure of Park Crescent Gardens
Monday 1st February 2021
We wish to advise you that on Monday 1st February 2021 Park Crescent gardens will be closed for the day. This is to allow us to undertake high pressure decompaction of the lawns and pathways to aerate the soil with the aim to resolve the poor drainage issues in the garden.
Whilst this work is being undertaken the garden will be locked as per our health and safety policy. Access will not be available via any gates or the Nursemaids tunnel. All appropriate Risk Assessments and Method Statements have been approved by the CEPC along with further COVID 19 Site Specific Control Measures.
We apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause to residents and garden users.
Urban foxes in the garden
Friday 22nd January 2021
There is currently a family of foxes in the gardens that have become quite courageous.
The urban fox is classed as a nuisance not a pest. We are following Westminster City Council guidance (www.westminster.gov.uk/foxes) however as wild animals, foxes are protected under several laws.
Can we kindly re-emphasise to all garden users:
- Please be vigilant of your children whilst playing in the gardens and do not seek the foxes out
- Do not entice or encourage the foxes by feeding them
- As always, please keep your dogs on their leads
- Please ensure all rubbish and food matter is placed in the garden bins provided
Thank you for your cooperation.

Urban foxes in the garden
Updated 5 October 2020
There is currently a family of foxes in the gardens that have become quite courageous.
We are following Westminster City Council guidance (www.westminster.gov.uk/foxes) and are currently using a safe product to repel these foxes, which takes a few applications. It gives the false impression that another fox has claimed the territory and encourages them to leave the location. This product is not harmful to dogs.
As the foxes have been particularly active in the Children’s Play Area in Park Square it has been temporarily closed.
Please be vigilant of your children whilst playing in the gardens and do not entice or encourage the foxes by feeding them. Please also ensure all rubbish and food matter is placed in the garden bins provided.
Ground Investigation Work – Chester Terrace Garden
Updated 2 October 2020
Following the initial soil investigations that took place earlier this year, we have arranged for further such works to take place on Friday 2 October 2020 in the Chester Terrace Garden.
The work proposed involves the excavation of a series of pits in the garden. While these works are being undertaken, residents of Chester Terrace may experience some noise disturbance during the day. Additionally, the garden will be closed for safety reasons on Friday 2 October 2020.
Works of this nature are necessary to maintain the standards of land managed by the CEPC and to ensure the safety of residents of The Regent’s Park Estate. As always, the CEPC endeavours to minimise the disturbance caused by such work and apologies for any inconvenience.
If you have any queries about the planned work, please do not hesitate to contact the CEPC.
The Outer Circle – 20 mph speed limit
Updated 2 October 2020
As you will be aware, the speed limit of The Outer Circle has recently been reduced to 20mph and offences of excessive speed are being enforced by the Metropolitan Police.
The changes can be viewed here.
This speed limit relates to motor vehicles and is covered by Section 124 of The Highway Code. It does not relate to pedal cyclists.
This does not mean that pedal cyclists cannot be prosecuted. Sections 28/29 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 gives Police the power to prosecute cyclists for Dangerous and Careless cycling.
The CEPC will liaise with the Police to establish the stance they are taking on this and to air the concerns of residents.
Should any resident wish to discuss this further, please call or email me our Traffic & Security Manager, Martyn Floodgate.
Please drive carefully.
Crown Estate Paving Commission Statement in response to request for comment on the Royal Parks Movement strategy including calls for gate closure changes
Updated 11 September 2020
The CEPC is supportive of The Royal Parks Movement Principles in general; we are however concerned that appropriate attention is paid to the individual needs of Regent’s Park where our statutory responsibility is for the management and maintenance of the roadways and ornamental gardens.
We are working with The Royal Parks to develop an appropriate traffic management plan that we hope will address the needs of the residents who live in and around Regent’s Park and the organisations that are situated there, as well as those who visit the park on foot, cycling or in their vehicles. Such a plan should, in line with the Movement Principles, be with a view to enhancing the pedestrian experience and safety; reducing the speed of all traffic, cycling and vehicular; and ensuring that the heritage and landscape identity of the park as a whole is protected.
Any initiative needs of course to take into account the impact of additional traffic on roads near to the park and the environmental impact on residents, schools and businesses in the area as a whole. We therefore will also need to work with the local authorities, Westminster and Camden, to reach a consensus prior to any formal phase of consultation with relevant parties on changes involving the CEPC.

Park Square and Park Crescent gardens are temporarily closed
Updated 27 July 2020
Park Square and Park Crescent gardens are temporarily closed to all garden users as a safety precaution whilst the area is made safe from a fallen tree limb. With the safety of our garden users being paramount and the tree overlooking part of the garden path, we have had to take this temporary step to ensure safety can be upheld.
The CEPC would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to ensure the gardens can be opened as soon as possible.
