The CEPC manages and maintains the three large gardens and some smaller garden areas that stretch along Carlton House Terrace. These areas formerly comprised the gardens of Carlton House until its demolition in 1828.
The largest gardens are on the east and west sides of Waterloo Place. The Stirling Square Garden sits at the north west end of the Carlton House Terrace. The CEPC also has responsibility for the small garden flanking the west side of the Duke of York’s Steps and the gardens in the Foreign Secretary’s turning circle at the south west end of the Carlton House Terrace.
The CEPC has responsibility only for the gardens and their railings but not for the roads or paving. Residents can access all the CEPC gardens in this area and are charged a garden rate for their maintenance.
If you have a query about access to the gardens, your garden rates or any other matter related to the gardens please contact the CEPC office.
