This section answers common questions about applying for visitor permits, where they can be used, and what rules apply. It is designed to help you manage parking for your guests with ease and confidence.

Who can purchase Visitor Permits?

Only residents can purchase scratch-card Visitor Permits for their visitors to use. They are available in 2hr and 5 hr formats and are only valid for the purchasing resident’s visitors to park in their terrace roadway. Once issued, Visitors Permits are identifiable to an individual resident and are not transferable to other residents or users. They may only be used in the resident’s relevant terrace roadway and not in other terrace roadways.

What types of Visitor Permits are available?

There are two types of scratch-card Visitor Permits available – Blue 5 hour permits and Yellow 2 hour permits. Permits are valid from the time of completion for the duration printed on them.

Can Contractors use Visitor Permits?

No – contractors cannot use Visitor Permits.
In addition, visitors who drive commercial vehicles cannot use Visitor Permits.

What are the conditions of use?

Can I use more than one permit to cover a period?

No – only one permit can be displayed in a vehicle at a time, so you cannot display two or more permits and stay longer than the duration of a single permit.

Who can use the blue 5 hour short stay permit?

Only guests of residents can be issued with the blue 5 hour permits. Blue Visitors Permits are not valid for use by contractors.

How many blue 5 hour short stay permits can I use a day?

Blue Visitors Permits cannot be used sequentially during the day to cover periods of longer than 5 hours. However, between 22:30 and 08:30 the following morning residents can issue two permits to cover an overnight period of up to 10 hours.

What happens if the short stay permits are misused?

Permits showing evidence of having had their details altered will be invalid. Any vehicle displaying such a permit may contravene the Parking Regulations and the penalties therein may be applied.
