Starting Monday 12 January 2026, contractor FM Conway will be upgrading three existing pedestrian crossings to signalised crossings around the Outer Circle. These pedestrian crossings are located at Kent Passage, Monkey Gate and Chester Gate. The works should approximately take 8 weeks. During this period, temporary crossing points will be provided to ensure pedestrians can continue to cross the Outer Circle safely.
To facilitate the works, temporary traffic lights will be in operation at each location, allowing vehicular traffic to continue using one lane of the Outer Circle roadway. Some delays and disruption may be experienced. We kindly ask for your patience.
Towards the end of the project, parts of the Outer Circle roadway will be closed for approximately two days to accommodate roadway resurfacing at the pedestrian crossing locations. Further information, including the exact dates of the closures and appropriate traffic diversions will be issued later in the project.
